On 31 March – 4 April 2025, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Pedagogy Dr. Vaidotas Valantiejus, together with Social Work students and partners from Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany participated in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) “Domestic Violence”, organized by HOWEST (Belgium). Students were introduced to the treatment, prevention and social work practices of domestic violence in different countries.
Vaidotas Valantiejus gave the lecture “Sociological, political and ideological aspects of domestic violence”. VIKO students presented the legal framework in Lithuania and sociological aspects of our society’s attitudes towards domestic violence. Students and lecturers from different countries discussed the concept of domestic violence, psychological aspects, prevention, consequences for different groups such as children, women, and seniors. Students participated in art workshops creating visual messages against domestic violence, using animation, sound, posters and architectural models to discuss violence. Throughout the BIP, various cultural and social experiences, as well as social work practices were shared aimed at dealing with different forms of domestic violence.
