On May 7–8, a meeting of the Education and Inclusion Researchers’ Group of the HEROES European University Alliance—which also includes Vilniaus kolegija—took place at UCN University College in Aalborg, Denmark. Vilniaus kolegija was represented by an interfaculty, interdisciplinary team of researchers from Vilniaus kolegija, including researchers from the Faculties of Electronics and Informatics and Education.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetlana Kubilinskienė from the Faculty of Electronics and Informatics presented the experience of Vilniaus kolegija researchers in using artificial intelligence tools in the study process and scientific research. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stasė Ustilaitė from the Department of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Education, together with the Head of the Department, Dr. Lina Pečiulienė, reviewed the regulation of artificial intelligence use in Lithuanian educational institutions.
The researchers’ group discussed the future of higher education, inclusion, education, and teacher training in Europe, as well as joint research directions within the alliance and opportunities for international cooperation in the fields of education and the application of artificial intelligence in education. Particular attention was given to aspects of responsible artificial intelligence use in early childhood and primary education.
The research teams also worked on analyzing funding opportunities under the HORIZON and other research programs and on developing project proposal ideas. This meeting once again confirmed that international interdisciplinary cooperation is becoming an essential condition for creating innovative, inclusive, and socially responsive higher education. Participation in the HEROES Alliance opens opportunities for Vilniaus kolegija to actively contribute to shaping the future of European education by strengthening the links between research, studies, and social responsibility, and by developing solutions focused on human well-being, inclusion, and sustainable societal development.
