Students of the Dance Pedagogy Study Programme Participated in a Project Promoting Responsible Consumption

Students of the Dance Pedagogy study programme, after completing the course Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr Inga Kepalienė, took part in the interdisciplinary project “The Possibilities of Heat Press Technology in Sustainable Fashion Workshops” together with Jolita Raupelienė, Lecturer of the Fashion Design study programme.

The aim of the project was to promote responsible consumption and to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability in everyday life.

During the project, students explored the idea that clothing does not necessarily have to become waste – it can be creatively renewed and its lifespan extended. Through various activities, students became familiar with the principles of responsible consumption, discussed issues of overconsumption and textile waste, and reflected on how individuals can contribute to creating a more sustainable environment.

In the practical part of the project, participants learned how to revitalise unused garments, searched for creative solutions, and created new clothing designs. The project encouraged not only environmental awareness, but also creativity, self-expression, and collaboration. Students were able to experience firsthand that sustainability can be engaging, meaningful, and easily integrated into everyday life.

One of the areas of social responsibility and sustainable development at Vilniaus kolegija is sustainable fashion. We hope that the experience gained during this project will encourage young people to evaluate their consumption habits more responsibly, choose to renew items rather than discard them, and contribute to a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
