In October 2026, the Faculty of Pedagogy at Vilniaus Kolegija | Higher Educaton institution (VIKO) launched the Dance Subject Module studies as part of the project “Continue: Come, Improve, Contribute!” The studies provide teachers with an opportunity to expand their professional competencies, deepen their knowledge of dance education, and acquire new skills essential for organising a modern, creative and inclusive educational process.
The Dance Subject Module comprises 60 ECTS credits and lasts approximately one year. The programme aims to develop creative, independent, innovative and professional dance educators, placing particular emphasis on integrating theoretical knowledge with practical teaching skills.
Throughout the studies, participants will explore the principles of dance didactics, active teaching and learning methods, artistic expression, approaches to fostering students’ creativity, and opportunities for cultural education. Lectures and practical sessions will examine various educational methods that help create inclusive learning environments tailored to students’ individual abilities and needs.
An important component of the programme is the development of practical competencies. Participants will learn to plan and implement dance education activities adapted to students of different ages and needs in both formal and non-formal education settings. Particular attention will also be paid to reflective teaching practice, collaboration, sharing professional experiences, and exploring innovative educational approaches.
The studies are delivered in a blended format, combining online lectures with face-to-face sessions. This flexible approach enables teachers to balance their professional responsibilities with continuing professional development.
By offering these studies, the Faculty of Pedagogy at VIKO contributes to strengthening teachers’ professional competencies and improving the quality of education. It is expected that the knowledge and practical experience gained will encourage participants to apply creative, innovative and inclusive dance teaching methods more confidently in their everyday teaching practice.
We congratulate all teachers who have embarked on the Dance Subject Module studies and wish them a rewarding learning experience, creative discoveries and inspiring professional opportunities!
